Parkland County has a casual Bus Driver position available in the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Social Development Coordinator, this position is responsible for the safe operation of Parkland County’s Seniors’ bus in the delivery of transportation services. The role provides public transportation primarily for passengers aged sixty-five plus (65+) years of age and older, with accommodations made for other demographics as required, including individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities.  This position will assist passengers with varying mobility levels and respond with patience and care while adapting to variable working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic & construction, passenger concerns, accidents, and route changes.
 

The ideal candidate would have the following

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 

  • A valid Class 4 Drivers License with the ability to provide a satisfactory Commercial Drivers Abstract. A Class 1 or 2 Drivers License in addition is preferred.  

  • Hold a valid Standard First Aid with CPR Certification.  

  • Previous experience driving passenger vehicles such as a shuttle, bus or similar vehicle. 

  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional and courteous service when working directly with the public. 

  • Previous experience working seniors, including providing assistance, support, or regulation interaction. 

  • Proven ability to safely assist passengers with varying mobility levels, including boarding, seating, and exiting the vehicle. 

  • Current clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check must be provided prior to the extension of an offer, following the interview process.  

The total rewards package for this position includes: 

An hourly rate of pay of $27.26 to $30.58 with hours of work as required.
