Parkland County Fire Services offers extensive and comprehensive paid training for Firefighters. In addition, Paid-On-Call Firefighters are provided with Group Accident Insurance, access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), and 4% vacation paid out each pay period.

Now Hiring: Firefighter (Paid-on-Call)
(Competition #25-82)
Parkland County has an exciting opportunity available within Fire Services for Paid-On-Call Firefighters starting in December 2025. Reporting to the Station Captain, the Firefighter is a paid-on-call first responder who responds to emergency incidents such as, but not limited to: fires, medical first responses, motor vehicle incidents, alarm calls, hazardous material incidents, water incidents, rescue incidents and rail incidents when available. This position will also participate in regular training, public education, preventative maintenance, and other duties as required. Interested applicants are invited to apply directly through our website and must be available to participate in the aptitude testing (October 14 & 15, 2025) and interview process (Week of November 3, 2025). Successful candidates will be required to attend an in-person orientation on Saturday, December 13, 2025. (Competition #25-82)
We are recruiting for the following Fire Stations:
- Acheson Fire Station
- Parkland Village Fire Station
- Tomahawk Fire Station
- Wabamun Fire Station
- At least 18 years of age.
- Live within 8 minutes if you live out east (Acheson or Parkland Village) or 15 minutes if you live out west (Wabamun or Tomahawk) from your nearest Parkland County Fire Station.
- Can meet training requirements of 1 evening per week and several weekends throughout the year.
- Fire services experience is an asset but not a requirement.
- Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (less than 6 demerits).
- Current clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening must be provided prior to the extension of an offer following the interview process.
- Medical Clearance form to be completed before an extension of an offer.
