Now Hiring: Manager, Economic Growth (#25-81)
Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Manager, Economic Growth position in the Growth & Strategy Department. Reporting to the Director, Growth & Strategy, the Manager, Economic Growth is responsible for driving the advancement of the County’s strategic priorities related to economic diversification and investment attraction portfolio optimization. This leadership position is responsible for guiding a high-performing team in delivering exceptional service to internal and external strategic partners, while driving initiatives that foster business growth, retention, and competitiveness. With a focus on economic development and strategy, the Manager leads the creation and execution of frameworks that support strategic economic initiatives for long-term impact. The role also oversees the development of targeted investment attraction strategies, business support programs, and engagement efforts that promote a vibrant and resilient local economy. The Manager provides insight on emerging economic trends that contribute to strategic planning, decision-making, and policy development in collaboration with other internal business areas. The position is accountable for team leadership, performance management, and operational oversight, ensuring alignment with Parkland County’s core values and vision for sustainable growth and prosperity.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Economic Development, Planning, Public Administration or related discipline.
  • Formal training, certification or experience in municipal leadership, strategic planning or regional development would be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience, with exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to work within tight timelines and an often-steady workload.
  • Effective relationship building skills with groups with different areas of expertise, such as internal departments, industry, senior management, the public and Council.
  • Strong working knowledge of economic development principles, municipal government processes, and site selection requirements for private sector businesses and investors.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programs.
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
The total rewards package for this position includes:
A starting annual salary of $120,500 to $135,500, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
