Working within the Road Maintenance & Drainage department and reporting to the Director, Road Maintenance & Drainage, the Manager, Road Maintenance is responsible for the overall management and delivery of road maintenance programs. This position provides the technical and operational oversight of the maintenance and repair of the road network within the County, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with exceptional service delivery and department priorities. The Manager, Road Maintenance, provides leadership to supervisors and oversees field staff, including promoting a strong safety culture, operational accountability, and consistent work practices. This position is also responsible for coordinating maintenance programs, budget activities and performance monitoring and reporting while working collaboratively with other County departments to support integrated service delivery.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field supplemented with formal leadership training.  
  • A Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) Designation through the Association of Science and Engineering Technology (ASET) is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience providing technical and operational management of year-round road maintenance processes and heavy equipment operation including being actively involved in site work functions.     
  • Formal leadership experience including directly supervising union and non-union positions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to provide exceptional service delivery and issue resolution with practical, timely solutions.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite, Maintenance Management Systems, GPS, Asset Management and Financial Programs.
Requirements:
  • Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Services Building– 2700 48 St. Stony Plain, Alberta and various field locations throughout the County.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and current, satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

A Starting Salary of:$121,700 to $131,600 per yearMax Salary Potential:$153,900 per year
